Questions
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in JavaScript inside your own browser. Nothing is sent to a server, which means you can use it with confidential data and it works offline once the page has loaded.
Does it handle commas inside quoted fields?
Yes. A value like "Turing, Alan" stays one field, and doubled quotes inside a quoted value are read as a literal quote character, following the normal CSV convention.
Can it convert a whole folder of CSV files at once?
Not on this page, which works on one paste at a time. Batch conversion across many files is what the Text Workflow Mac app is for.
Why are my numbers turning into strings?
Untick Convert numbers if you want every value kept as text. It's useful for things like postcodes and product codes with leading zeros, which would otherwise lose them.
