M3U Edit app icon M3U Edit · For Mac

Playlists that play everywhere.

Build M3U playlists for your car, phone, USB stick or any media player. M3U Edit finds what would stop a song from playing, fixes it, and exports exactly what your device needs.

Requires macOS 14 or later · No account, no tracking. Your music never leaves your Mac.

Export

One click to your car, phone or player.

Pick your device and M3U Edit sets up the playlist, the file names and the folders for you. See exactly what will be copied before anything is, and update a USB stick later by copying only what changed.

  • Presets for car stereos, Android, portable players, media servers and Windows
  • Export Again copies only new and changed songs, in playlist order

Playlist Check

Find problems before you drive.

Playlist Check looks for everything that can stop a song from playing on your device, and fixes most of it with one click.

  • Missing songs, formats your device can't play, duplicates and very long paths
  • Relink songs, convert on export or remove duplicates in one click

Tools

Convert hundreds of playlists at once.

Moving from Windows or to a new drive? Switch formats, relative or absolute paths and separators for many playlists, let M3U Edit find songs that moved, and preview every change before it's saved.

  • M3U, M3U8, PLS and XSPF, and import WPL and Music app playlists
  • Create a playlist for every album folder, in disc and track order

Smart rules

Clean up with a few rules.

Remove songs by length, artist, genre or file type, or keep just one song per artist. A live list shows exactly which songs will go, and one Undo brings them all back.

  • Songs longer than 6 minutes, artist contains…, file type is mp3
  • Keep one song per artist, album or title
